I love adding origami elements to all sorts of otherwise flat crafts to asd some dimension and texture while still keeping things flat paper. An origami heart is a very classic tutorial that you’ll love having alongside this origami fish, origami crab, and origami mushroom.
Don’t just stick to solid colors when crafting your origami heart! Try this in non-traditional colors, not just red and pink, and in all sorts of patterns and textures. Since the shape is simple, it’ll look just fabulous if you make it in plaids, polka dots, stripes, or whatever you love!
Craft this to make a garland, a greeting card, or framed art. Create it as a compilation where the whole class joins in to craft a part of it, as a bulletin board or door decor.
You can write a little message on the outside, or on the inside between the two folds.
Use it as part of gift wrap, to make lunch box notes for the kids, or any time you want to show someone a little love.
Origami hearts are a fabulous little classic shape that you’ll definitely want to keep on making more and more of. Have fun crafting!

How to Make an Origami Heart
1. Start with a square paper (you can cut a rectangle paper into a square).
2. Flip it over.
3. Fold the paper diagonally in half.
4. Open the fold.
5. Fold it again diagonally in half in the other direction.
6. Open the fold. This will create an “X” shaped fold on the paper.
7. Holder your paper on the diagonal with the corners on the top, bottom, right, and left. Take the top corner of the paper and bring it down to the center point.
8. Take the bottom corner and fold it up to the top fold.
9. Take the right half of the horizontal folded paper, and bring it upwards along the vertical center fold line. Fold it into position.
10. Repeat with the left side.
11. Flip it over to the other side.
12. Fold the two top points of the hearts slightly to “round it off”.
13. Fold the points on the two sides to round those off as well.
