Paper Crocus Flowers with a free printable template, of course!
Paper crocus flowers are a wonderful beginner level paper flower to try – the shape and assembly is simple, and they are so bright and colorful! You can find my color-in paper flower templates here or scroll down for this one if you prefer to make it out of colored paper! This post contains affiliate links.
Over time, I’ve shared on this blog many different paper templates. Just about two months ago, I shared how to make a paper calla lily and last year, I created some paper tulips.
These paper crocus flowers are just as simple, and can also be turned into a beautiful bouquet!
While I used scrapbook paper for the tulips for a shabby kind of look, and on the calla lilies I watercolored my own finish, these were made quite simply using colored paper. You can choose the weight that you prefer to work with, but the ones pictured here were made with a medium weight card stock.
All of these methods can be interchanged between the flower types – I just like to spice things up and keep changing it!
My best memories of Crocus flowers are from a park in Paris and lilac was the natural color. They are also predominantly yellow, white, and mauve. But of course, adding in a nice mix of colors spice things up.
Make one or make a bouquet – and then share it with us in the Sisterhood of Crazy Crafters!
What you need to make paper crocus flowers:
- The template
- Colorful craft paper
- A bit of heavier duty card stock (such as the cardboard that might come inside a men’s shirt package)
- Glue
- Scissors
- Pencils
- Ruler
How to make paper crocuses:
1. Cut a piece of card stock 3 centimeters long and 1-centimeter wide. Roll it and glue the ends to secure.
2. Use the PDF template to cut out the flower’s petals from colorful paper.
3. Take a petal and apply glue on the bottom area of the petal.
Glue the petal to the card stock base.
4. Then take another petal and glue it on the roll opposite the previous petal.
5. Keep gluing the petals around roll until you are happy with the fullness of the flower.
6. Take a green craft paper about 2 inches wide and 6 inches long. Roll it into a stem.
7. Cut a strip of yellow paper 3-4 cm wide and 8 cm long. Cut fringe along the length, making sure to not cut too far so that your strip doesn’t tear.
8. Glue the end of the yellow fringe to the top of your stem so that the fringe sticks up. Coil it around the tip, gluing as you go.
9. Thread the base of your stem through the center of your flower, through the card stock roll, from the top, until your yellow stamen sits nicely in the flower.
10. Glue the flower to the stick to secure.
11. Use the templates to cut out the leaves for the paper crocus flowers.
12. Glue the leaves to the stem to finish things off.
Your paper crocus flowers are complete! Place them into a simple glass vase or a tall tumbler to display. Aren’t they beautiful?
