Parents worldwide constantly find themselves with the same challenge: to find the perfect birthday gift. A first birthday is possibly the most important – marking the end of one of the most challenging years for first time parents – between nighttime feedings and diaper changes, discovering parenting styles, and overcoming the controversy that comes with. It’s also one of the most major stages of development in a child’s life, making the need for an appropriate gift all the more vital.
I’ve decided to make an attempt at answering the question. If you are a company that believes they carry an item that would be “they perfect first birthday present”, this is your chance to be featured in the ultimate gift guide.
About the Event:
This event will be taking place in three stages:
1. Submissions and product reviews:
Brands have a chance to submit their products to be considered as the ideal gift. Each product submitted will receive its own in depth review in its own post on my blog. The review will be written in a format similar to this one, with the following features:
- 3 or more original high quality photos, including some with my child where possible
- First impressions
- Features
- What I liked
- What I didn’t like (vital to gain reader’s confidence. If I really didn’t like a product overall, or if a review will need to take a negative turn – which very rarely happens – I would contact you before reviewing.)
- Who it’s great for (a direct recommendation for who I believe would enjoy the product most)
- Final score out of 5 stars
In addition, all products submitted for review will be considered for the final gift guide. Each review will be promoted across my social media – including multiple facebook posts, multiple tweets, a special “first birthday gifts” pinterest board, and Instagram photos.
Product submission deadline is September 25. Reviews will be posted within a month of product receipt (all reviews will be posted by October 25). All products must be full sized and can not be returned.
2. A multi-product giveaway:
Each brand may submit a product for giveaway purposes. Benefits include: more exposure, growing your social media following, and another post encouraging readers to read the review. I plan to combine the products simply because the larger the giveaway, the more people it attracts and the more readers will do to win it – including visiting daily, liking more pages. This will also help me get other bloggers involved, with a huge total following and larger reach. If your product has a high value ($100) on its own, I will consider doing an individual giveaway if you prefer. This prize will be shipped by you directly to the winner.
The giveaway will take place on or around October 28 and will run for approximately one month.
3. The Ultimate first birthday gift guide:
This is the last stage of the event, in which my favorite products, including those sponsored, will be featured in a final self-curated list. This can also include items I own and will be my honest opinion as a mother of a one year old. This will be promoted in private facebook groups in addition to my own social media. The final gift guide will be put together soon after all product reviews are done.
The exact form the guide will take, and quantity will depend on what I see and what I like. I will be aiming to include variety in price. I would like to feature a few categories, such as: toys, essentials, books, and clothing. I may include a “for mom” section as well, highlighting that this is at least as much a celebration for the parents as it is for the child.
